QUALIFICATIONS: RNs must have strong communication skills, including the ability to listen actively, speak clearly, and write effectively. They must also be able to communicate with patients and families from diverse cultural backgrounds:
- An unencumbered and active RN license in New York State is required

RN Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of a Registered Nurse (RN) is to devise and deliver nursing care for patients/residents in need of long-term or rehabilitative care.
RNs must be able to effectively communicate with other members of the healthcare team, such as physicians, therapists, and social workers, to ensure quality patient care:
- Operates within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act, facility policies, and sound nursing discretion to deliver quality care.
- Studies, plans, and assesses the nursing care provided to patients or residents in need of long-term and rehabilitation care, and evaluates its effectiveness.
- Providing nursing assistance to those with long-term or rehabilitative care needs.
- Carries out the plan of care for the patient/resident and evaluates their reaction.
- Directs the activities of the nursing personnel in providing care to patients.
- Assists in the refinement and evaluation of protocols for patient safety.
- Stays current with mandatory documentation specifications.
- Has in-depth knowledge and experience in the setup, usage, and maintenance of medical equipment such as drain devices, infusion pumps, and monitors, and ensures effective function of the same.
- Respects the confidentiality and abides by the patient/resident rights, concerning any data that is related to patients/residents/personnel.
- Delivers necessary information and guidance to patients, caregivers, and families, as applicable.
- Conducts oneself professionally while following the guidelines and standards of the unit and facility.
- Honors a schedule that involves working in shifts that rotate, even on weekends and holidays.
Required Education and Experience:
- A minimum requirement for one to practice nursing professionally is graduation from an undergraduate nursing program.
- To be considered for this position, candidates must have completed a minimum of one year of medical/surgical nursing work experience in a hospital or long-term care facility, preferably within an acute/critical care environment.
- It is necessary to have a dependable means of transportation for this position.
